Narrows Elementry School(NMES) Archery Club consists of 55 archers ranging from 4th grade through 12th. The team has qualified for the NASP State Tournament each year and NASP National Championship for two consecutive years. The coaching team at NEMS consists of 5 BAI certified (basic archery instruction) instructors.
IWLA has been a fundamental piece in the success of the archery team by supporting the team as well as rallying financial support from surrounding businesses. The team has attended the National Championships in Louisville, Kentucky with the support of our local IWLA chapter.
IWLA and Narrows Elementary Middle School are partnering together to bring a summer program to the New River Valley. The program will teach youth how to shoot and compete in target style archery. IWLA has purchased two complete sets of Rinehart 3D targets which will be used for the program.
“During our program, we hope to be able to get youth interested in a lifelong sport, which can be enjoyed by anyone,” said Crystal Dunn, Narrows Elementry Middle School Teacher, and Archery supervisor.
